Mount Pico Climb
We'll meet at the Casa da Montanha visitor centre, where we'll start our climbing route on Mount Pico. Did you know that at 2351 metres in height, the volcano is the highest point in the Azores and in Portugal?
Once we're all together, we'll give you some safety instructions before starting the climb. Let's get going!
We'll start ascending and climbing at a moderate pace adapted to the whole group. It'll take us between seven and eight hours to complete the whole route.
Throughout our climb up Mount Pico, you'll enjoy mesmerising views of the surrounding area and the vegetation that changes as we gain altitude. You'll see everything from holly bushes to cedars that manage to survive the harsh conditions of the volcano. Finally, when we reach the top, and if the clouds don't block our view, we'll enjoy the unique landscape of the Azores archipelago from the peak.
Important Info
- To participate in this activity, you must be in very good physical condition. The route is not recommended for children under 13 or for people over 65. If you are over 65 and engage in regular physical activity, you will need to provide additional medical documentation to justify your participation in the activity.
- You must not have engaged in any diving activities in the previous 24 hours.
- Reaching the summit is always subject to weather conditions, safety considerations, and the guide’s professional assessment.
