Modena is internationally known for its famous vinegar, but there is much more to the city than this. We will meet up in Piazza Grande square to start our fantastic private tour of the historic center.
From there, we will see the façade of the Modena cathedral and the elegant Civic Tower which are protected by UNESCO as World Heritage Site. The tower, also known as Ghirlandina, stands at almost 300 feet high and is an icon of Modena!
We will visit the interior of the Cathedral to discover all the secrets of this Romanesque jewel which, for many, is one of the most beautiful temples in Italy. We will also tell you who San Gimignano was and his importance in the history of the city.
Back in the square, we will visit the sculpture of Bonissima to tell you about the various theories and legends that circulate about this figure. We will then walk to the Albinelli market to learn about Modena's delicious cuisine. You will hear all about Parmesan cheese and also the regional vinegar too.
We will then go through the Jewish quarter and encounter the synagogue and the Palazzo Ducale di Modena and you will admire their intricate facades.
We will end the private tour by returning to the Piazza Grande square after a two-hour walk.
